This class is designed as an introduction to the legal system and its impact and functions within the business world. Students will study legal reasoning, the process of resolving disputes and contractual agreements in the business community

Outcomes
- Develop an understanding of basic legal terminology and concepts
- Document selected areas of law affecting business transactions, including contracts governed by Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code
- Recognize principle business forms and the process for forming a business entity in Washington State
- Research the numerous intellectual property rights of others and recognize the need to protect their own intellectual property, with emphasis on understanding the fair use doctrine of copyright law
- Document an understanding of basic laws that apply to human resources
- Research ethical issues in business and their potential for legal implications
- Spot, weigh, and analyze risks, plus recognize when it is appropriate to seek appropriate legal assistance
