PNUR 166 Preceptorship

Using clinical judgement along with the knowledge and experience gained in didactic and clinical courses, students will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to multiple patients under a preceptor's supervision.

Successful completion of all nursing program courses previous to this final course.

Outcomes

  1. Collaborate with a preceptor, to deliver culturally sensitive, quality nursing care to diverse clients.
  2. Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with members of the healthcare team.
  3. Author professional written communication including documentation in the EMR.
  4. Under the preceptor's supervision, utilizing evidence-based practice, develop a plan of care for a variety of patients in the clinical setting.
  5. Develop and provide education regarding medication and health conditions to patients in a variety of settings across the lifespan.
  6. Develop and promote healthy activities and strategies for clients and families across the lifespan.
  7. Utilizing clinical judgement, integrate the knowledge of nursing scope of practice and perform the duties of the PN under the supervision of a preceptor.
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of pathophysiology/physiology, disease process and how it relates to medications, treatments and data collection.
  9. Using the knowledge and experience gained in didactic, laboratory, simulation and clinical courses students.
