ECE 213 Creative Experience - Art & Movement

This course addresses the importance of high quality and meaningful creative expression across the early childhood curriculum. Students will develop teaching strategies to support creativity, plan and implement developmentally appropriate creative activities, and explore the development of art in young children birth to age 8.

Outcomes

1. Describe art activities that promote vocabulary and stimulate growth and development for all children birth to age 8, including culturally, linguistically and ability diverse children.
2. Describe creativity’s role in the classroom and the importance of differentiated instruction that is culturally diverse and encourages awareness of children’s individual characteristics.
3. Explain appropriate goals/guidelines used in creative music and movement for young children.
4. Plan and implement assorted activities using a variety of mediums to support children’s creative processes.
5. Recognize children’s artistic developmental sequences and their relationship to pre-academic development.
