Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material using calculators, hand tools, and machines on metal.
  2. Interpret construction blueprints to identify dimensions, materials, and installation requirements for sheet metal projects.
  3. Interpret guidelines set forth by OSHA/WISHA/HAZ COM and occupation standards
  4. Identify and properly use common hand tools and machines for cutting, forming, and assembling sheet metal components.
  5. Fabricate and install a variety of assemblies: heating and air conditioning ducts, equipment, and architectural metal components
  6. Perform basic computer functions relating to duct design and CAD fabrication
  7. Develop independent work habits and positive interpersonal abilities to create a team environment in the workplace
  8. Use calculators, dividers, squares, and rulers for geometric construction in drafting.
  9. Apply mathematical principles to accurately interpret technical drawings, calculate material dimensions, bend allowances, and layout patterns for sheet metal fabrication.
  10. Identify and understand the historical moments and values of the sheet metal trade and how it shaped the sheet metal trade.
  11. Apply industry related skills for esential tasks towards suplemental training for handling, and transporting materials and personel.
