PSAD 310 Foundations in Public Safety
An introduction to public safety organizations and the functions of administrators within these organizations. Identifies key functions of public safety administration and describes the history and current forces and trends facing public safety administrators. The history, development, growth, and future of various interdependent public safety entities is examined from an interdisciplinary perspective. Topics include key responsibilities of administrators in public safety administration.

- Students will understand the National Response Framework and how it applies at the state level.
- Students will illustrate the relationship between local, State, and Federal response to disasters.
- Students will demonstrate the creation of a whole community response plan for their jurisdiction based upon a specific incident.
- Students will evaluate their own Incident Management System and how it interacts with cooperating agencies in a unified approach.
- Students will articulate an awareness and understanding of the varied roles, relationships, and responsibilities comprising professions in public safety.
- Students will evaluate the interactions of public safety organizations and the communities they serve.
